Bring Your Child to TII This Fall
For a Language Immersion Program and Fun!
Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Spanish

Get ahead of the curve and give your child the gift of learning a foreign language in early childhood. There is a great deal of research proving that young children can learn multiple languages simultaneously and that the earlier they start the better chances they have to acquire them fluently and become close to native speakers.
If you are reading this web site you have taken the first step towards helping your child be a future member of the community of multilingual and multicultural speakers.
Starting this fall, TII’s Language Center will be offering foreign language classes for children aged 5 to 12. During two-hour classes on Saturdays, they will learn to understand and express themselves in the language of choice taking an exciting journey into the culture, where they will be practicing through  well-structured lessons and diverse activities such as songs, games, crafts, music, drama and art. Classes are taught entirely in the respective languages and foster creativity and collaboration among children.
All of our courses are taught by qualified native and near-native speaker-teachers who have experience teaching children.
Courses will be offered at the beginner level in three age groups: ages 5/6, ages 7/8 and ages 9/12. The curriculum is designed for learners of the language as a foreign language rather than as a heritage language. It has been designed with a view to the cognitive development of the children of each age group.

ARABIC

If you are an expat living in Qatar with your family, the chances of having your kids involved in situations where Arabic is the means of communication are great. If this is case, don’t let the language barrier get in your kids’ way and consider TII’s Arabic program for kids.
Arabic is an important world language and a difficult one at that. Getting your child started early will ease their way into the language and give them an advantage over their peers later on in life.
By joining TII’s Arabic program your child will be placed according to their age and learn in a relaxed and fun-filled environment. The activities, games and materials are selected on the basis of the skills level and respective cognitive development. While each age group starts at the beginner level the depth and breadth of the material covered varies from one age group to another. The younger children will learn exclusively though games, songs, coloring, matching and puzzles while the group aged 9/12 will be exposed to some reading and writing too.

CHINESE (MANDARIN)

No one questions the economic power of China today and the growing importance of the Chinese language. Mandarin is the official language of mainland China. It is also a language that is best acquired at an early age. Give your child an edge by getting him or her started early. In this program, through card games, hands-on activities, group projects, coloring, video watching and many more children-centered, age-appropriate activities, kids learn how to understand and pronounce basic daily phrases. They also are introduced to about 200 most frequently used Chinese characters. They will have fun learning how to write basic character strokes and stroke orders. Depending on the age group they may be introduced to  Pinyin – a Romanized phonetic system of transcribing Mandarin Chinese. Classes are conducted in a relaxed atmosphere with materials prepared by the instructors.

FRENCH

Speak French like the French. Learn the secrets of French cheese, desserts and crêpes. That’s what every learner aspires to.  The best way to achieve it is to start early, in childhood. If you “missed the boat” in your childhood, this fall, we are giving your children the opportunity.

GERMAN

A growing number of students wish to study at German universities. Getting your child started at an early age will save you and them a great deal of pain and time in their teens when they need to study for exams and are engaged in teenage activities. What better way to do that than starting now! What is more, your child will become absorbed in both the language and the culture so that the transition one day will be much smoother.
Another advantage of starting early is that difficult grammatical items which adults have a hard time with are acquired easily by children through conversation, songs, games and play and your child can become almost as fluent as a native speaker. All of our German classes are conducted in a fun-filled atmosphere with activities, games and learning tools appropriate for the children’s ages. The older children are taught through tasks that are somewhat more challenging than the younger ones. Our instructors are certified by the Goethe Institut and have experience teaching children. They are well aware of the specifics of children’s cognitive development at the various ages.
