Beginner Chinese for Kids 1.1

Course Description:
This course is for kids who desire to learn Mandarin Chinese systematically. Through card games, hands-on activities, group projects, coloring, video watching and many more children-centered, age-appropriate activities, kids will learn about 300 most frequently used Chinese characters. They will also learn Pinyin – a phonetic system of Mandarin Chinese, basic character strokes, and stroke orders. The knowledge and skills learned in this course will lay a solid foundation for the kids to continue to a higher level.

Course Objectives:
By the end of the course, kids will be able to:

  1. Recognize about 300 characters
  2. Master Pinyin – a phonetic system of Mandarin Chinese
  3. Write Chinese characters by following the correct stroke order
  4. Make short sentences using the words they have learned

Pre-requisite: No prior knowledge of Chinese for this course is required.

Beginner Chinese for Kids 1.2

Course Description:
This course is for kids who have successfully finished the beginner level course or have the equivalent ability. In this course, kids will continue to build up their vocabulary and characters. In the process of reviewing and learning new characters, kids will learn the basic radicals, which can help them gain deeper understanding of the structure and the meaning of the characters. Through story telling, card game, riddle making, mini speech, and many more fun games, kids will vigorously practice all four aspects of the Chinese language: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Course Objectives:
By the end of the course, kids will be able to:

  1. Recognize about 400 new characters
  2. Master about 20 Chinese radicals
  3. Make daily conversations fluently
  4. Write a paragraph consisting 4 to 5 sentences about familiar topics

Pre-requisite: Beginner Chinese for Kids or equevalent.

Post-Beginner Chinese for Kids

Course Description:
This course is for kids who have successfully finished the beginner level course or have the equivalent ability. In this course, kids will continue to learn more characters and vocabulary. In the process of reviewing and learning new characters, kids will learn more sophisticated radicals, in order to gain further knowledge of grammatical structure and polysemantic meaning of Chinese characters. Through comprehensive narrative reading, card game, riddle making, mini speech, and many more fun games, kids will consolidate their skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing Chinese.

Course Objectives:
By the end of the course, kids will be able to:

  1. Recognize about 450 new characters
  2. Master about 25 Chinese radicals
  3. Make daily conversation easily
  4. Begin to write simple Internet composition on various topics
