Seminar: Translation and Creativity in Arabic: Modes, Limits and Dynamics, by Dr. Mahmoud Alhirthani This seminar discusses the concept and the practice of creativity in Arabic/English translation at different levels of lexis, structure, and style in literary and non-literary productions. It explores different modes creative translational practice (e.g. formation, deviation, recreation) and focuses on the dynamics of creative acts in translation and the constraints that restrict them. The seminar will first provide an overview of the topic and will then delve into authentic examples of creative translation.
