Alumni Association
Mission and Vision
The College of Humanities and Social Sciences Alumni Association (CAA) was established with the purpose of maintaining relationships between The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) and its alumni. CAA aims to connect and reconnect alumni with each other and with the college by encouraging alumni to participate actively in the community, to attend events, to volunteer, and to remain a vehicle by which alumni participate in each other's lives and in the life of the college.
CAA’s vision is to involve the greatest possible number of alumni an annual basis by developing programs and services that alumni will seek to remain engaged with CHSS and with each other.
Consistent with the core values of CHSS and with Hamad Bin Khalid University’s commitment to leadership, education, and service, the CAA’s programs and services should provide alumni with meaningful opportunities to:
- Continue the process of life-long learning;
- Foster diversity and community;
- Contribute to the development and improvement of the academic offerings at CHSS;
- Serve the University, other alumni, students and the community at large.
Membership
As a CHSS graduate, all alumni earn a free CAA Membership, giving them access to many of the same privileges as students. All CAA members will have access to the resources and facilities at CHSS, including the library and computer labs, and all of the benefits and discounts available to alumni through the HBKU Alumni Procurement Privilege Program. All CAA members will also receive invitations to CAA programs, events, and opportunities, as well as access to on-going career services.
Governance
CAA will be led by a group of four alumni to hold the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, and the CAA will be overseen by the college’s Student and Alumni Services Specialist. Alumni can be nominated or sign themselves up for the positions; should more than student be nominated for the same position, the decision will be put to a vote. Re-elections will take place each year.
