Information on Chinese Testing International

At the end of 2023, CHSS, HBKU signed an agreement with Chinese Testing International (CTI) to establish HBKU Chinese Testing Center, effective from 2024. CTI operates national Chinese language testing programs such as the HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) and YCT (Youth Chinese Test). These tests, as official Chinese standards, are the most authoritative criteria for testing Chinese proficiency. For matters related to Chinese language proficiency, such as studying or working in China or working for Chinese companies overseas, test scores are generally required. In recent years, Chinese language teaching worldwide has gradually adopted the HSK and YCT test standards, teaching materials, and methods. Starting in mid-2024, our Language Center's Chinese courses for children, youth, and adults has also been entirely converted to the HSK and YCT standards and textbooks. Taking the HSK or YCT exam has been incorporated into our Chinese course syllabi and has become the main standard for testing all courses. After more than a year of experimental teaching transformation, we are now commencing operations at the HBKU Chinese Test Center.

According to our agreement with CTI, candidates register for the exam on the official CTI website and pay the registration fee here at our center for the convenience of transaction. CTI is responsible for the creation, delivery, grading, and result inquiry of the exam, while our testing center is responsible for arranging exam venues, invigilating the exam, and returning exam papers and other materials to CTI.
