If you are looking for the basic level of Arabic or you have previously completed the introductory level and learned to distinguish all Arabic letters, and now can read words and short sentences to the minimum, then this course is made for you! In this course, you will review or learn the reading principles and conversation basics such as: introducing yourself while meeting others, greeting, describing people and things, asking about people, places and times, ordering food, learning numbers, weekdays and months, keywords you find in signs in buildings, roads, and public places, etc. This course helps you overcome the obstacle that students usually encounter at the beginning of their speaking journey in Arabic. It also makes the transition to the next level smooth and easy. 
Note if you are absolute beginner, this course is challenging and needs to work hard.
Prerequisites: This course is suitable for absolute beginner students or who have finished Survival Arabic level.

Course materials: Specialized materials prepared by teachers such as audio, visual, and web-based materials.
 

You might be interested in acquiring basic Arabic language skills over a short period of time since you are living in Qatar! If this really is what are you looking for, you should seriously consider pursuing this course which will teach you the Arabic alphabet and reading skills that give you the basics of speaking and listening through a variety of everyday situations. You will learn how to greet others, introduce yourself, communicate with people, ask about the places of  things and persons, read billboards and street names, etc. It is worth notice that the Arabic language taught in this course falls within the proper cultural contexts of the State of Qatar and the Middle East. Textbooks also include texts written in Arabic and Latin letters in order to facilitate learning Arabic in this early stage.  The language we teach in this course is the Modern Standard Arabic (MSA).

Prerequisites: No prior knowledge of Arabic is expected.

If you have finished the Arabic Beginner 1 (Introduction) course or you already have some basic knowledge of Arabic, you must be asking “what is next?”! The perfect answer is to consider this course! It is the true beginning! In it, you start broadening your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, as well as acquiring more cultural awareness. At this level you start learning sentence structure, introductory conversational patterns and basic grammar so that you can begin to build sentences and engage in practical everyday situations. Topics include but are not limited to: greetings, polite expressions, asking and answering questions, and exchanging personal information. The present tense is practiced as well as the basic sentence structures. Supplementary speaking, listening, reading, and writing materials are used. Arabic cultural topics are also introduced. The language we teach in this course is the Modern Standard Arabic (MSA).

You are a doctor, a nurse or another healthcare professional in any Arab state and you find out that English is not enough. Sometimes you wish you could understand your Arabic-speaking patients better and to show to them that you care. This is the course that can help you do that. ​This course is very practical. It is designed around basic clinical situations that healthcare professionals face and the interactions they engage in. It will help you explain a prescription, report lab results, communicate with a patient who comes in with a fever or with a concerned family member.

Learning Outcomes:

Having finished this course, you will:

Now that you have completed Arabic Beginner 2, you are curious to explore further; as it gets easier. In this course you gain more practical experience, learn more sophisticated grammatical concepts and how to implement them in your speech and expand your vocabulary for a greater variety of situations. The present, past, future tenses are extensively practiced in conversation. Supplementary speaking, listening, reading, and writing materials are used. Arabic cultural topics are also introduced.  The language we teach in this course is the Modern Standard Arabic (MSA).

You are getting there! You are almost at the end of the beginner stage. This course helps you move to the intermediate level of proficiency as defined by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages Proficiency Guidelines (ACTFL). In order for you to expand your vocabulary, you work with a variety of authentic spoken and written texts. Speaking, listening, reading and writing all play an integral part in this course. This course has a strong cultural component which helps in the learning of the language.  The language we teach in this course is the Modern Standard Arabic (MSA).

You have completed the beginner series! Now what? It’s time to get ready to build on the skills you have already acquired. As you now have a strong knowledge of the basic structures and a good reserve of vocabulary, you are ready to proceed on exploring the Arabic language and culture in greater depth!

This course will expand your range of vocabulary and grammar knowledge. As a result, your communicative skills will develop and you will be able to successfully engage in conversations with native speakers.

Prerequisites: Arabic Beginner 3 at this program or equivalent.

You are now in the middle of the intermediate series and you have acquired more knowledge! Keep up! This course will develop the skills gained in Intermediate 1. The tasks to be completed in this course are more complex and make you continue to gain self-confidence. You also learn to do some Arabic attempts in daily communicative situations.  

Prerequisites: Arabic Intermediate 1 at this program or equivalent.

You have reached the end of the intermediate series. At this level you engage in conversations of greater complexity and communicate with more confidence and ease. You expand your vocabulary and refine your grammar and idiomatic expressions, and become able to communicate within the appropriate cultural context.  In this course, you will conclude the second book and be introduced to Arabic journalism and its role, as well as Arabic satellite channels and their cultural and linguistic role. You will also be familiarized with aspects of higher education in the Arab world and students’ experiences.

After you have finished Intermediate 3 and you know a lot of vocabulary, you may ask how you have all these vocabulary and still find some difficulty in speaking, or you may also find it hard to remember sentences and phrases! It is normal because you do not use your sentences and phrases in a conversation and may not know the correct contexts to use them. This is the right course that will make you benefit from what you have learned at the beginner and intermediate levels in a practical way through exercises in conversation and dialogue. It also discusses topics such as migration, environment, health, etc. Also, this course provides you with sentence connectors that make your speech coherent and clear, in addition to structures and phrases to express the various functions of language such as persuasion, comparison, explanation, evaluation and more.

Prerequisites: Arabic Intermediate 3 or equivalent.

After you completed Beginner 1 or 2  and you are now able to present yourself and those around you, and at least describe people and things by using phrasal and verbal sentences, and you have a vocabulary about daily and academic life and you are able to use the verb tenses and build a sentence using the singular, plural, masculine and feminine, then you need another step to master such knowledge in order to be better able to talk about topics of daily and academic life. This course equips you with all of the above- mentioned knowledge. Your review during the course includes the use of question sentences, describing things and people, ordering food and taxi, describing places and times, talking about habits and hobbies, asking about the timings of events, and using the verb in the past, present and future tenses; be it in regular or negation forms. Your vocabulary and language scope on topics of daily life will also increase well. This course, indeed, helps you move to the next level easily. 

Prerequisites: Arabic Beginner 2 or at least Arabic Beginner 1 efficiently at this program or equivalent

If you have completed Arabic beginner 4 or at least Arabic beginner 3 efficiently, at this program or elsewhere, and wish to focus on your communication skills away from a textbook, then this is the right course for you. You will use the basic grammatical structures and vocabulary that you have learned and will build upon them. Learning takes place through conversation and communication. This course is taught using only authentic and customized communicative materials watching Arabic movies, listening to Arabic music, songs, and viewing cartoons. You also read materials from the Internet to help you express yourself. You will increase your vocabulary and grammatical means of expression and improve your fluency. The class is conducted in Arabic.
Pre-requisites: Arabic Beginner 4 or at least Arabic Beginner 3 efficiently at this program or equivalent. 
 

In this course, you will continue to develop your communication skills. If you have completed Arabic Intermediate 2 or at least Arabic Intermediate 1 efficiently, or equivalent, then this is the right course for you. The course is taught using only authentic and customized communicative materials watching Arabic movies, listening to Arabic music, songs, and viewing cartoons. A typical class includes intensive practice in conversation with emphasis on vocabulary building in the right context and improving fluency in speaking, reading, and listening. Classes are conducted exclusively in Arabic.  You will read an article, write a summary, make a presentation to the class, answer questions from other students, and engage in conversation. 
Prerequisites:  At least Arabic Intermediate 2

Plus, the course will answer many questions about Arab society and life in this part of the world. It is a great chance to learn a lot in a short time.
Course materials: No textbook is required, and the teacher will provide participants with audio-visual and written materials prepared by TII’s Language Center, as well as other materials and websites that introduce the Arabic language and culture. 
English is the language of instruction during this course.

The class has two parts: one that goes over grammar and spelling, and another that gives you hands-on practice in reading, comprehension, and expressing yourself in writing and speech.
