German Program for Kids
A growing number of students wish to study at German universities. Getting your child started at an early age will help to become absorbed in both the language and the culture, so that the transition one day will be much smoother.
All of our German classes are conducted in a fun-filled atmosphere with activities, games and learning tools appropriate for the children’s ages and follow an age-related, customized children’s curriculum. All our instructors have experience teaching children and are well aware of the specifics of children’s cognitive development at the various ages.
In the “Beginner 1 part 1”, children/teenagers learn basic communication skills. They will be able to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at meeting immediate needs in any part of the German-speaking world everything related to their own world, how to greet, say their names and ages, introduce their close family, talk about their likes and dislikes, favorite foods and animals.
They practice their listening and speaking skills using various activities, games and relevant materials in order to start understanding the language in its cultural context and engage in short interactions.
Prerequisites: No prior knowledge of German is required
Course content will cover the first half of the book.
Textbook: Beste Freunde PLUS A1.1, Kursbuch und Arbeitsbuch
Children will be able to start using the basic skills, they acquired in the previous level. Students will be able to use higher numbers. They will be able to form sentences with negative structure, expressing that they don’t want something, or don’t agree to a special topic.
Students will be able to express wishes and demands and their preferences. They will talk about what they wear and what others wear; they can name different types of clothes. They can describe clothes in a very simple way.
They practice the listening and speaking skills using various activities and games and relevant materials in order to understand the language in its cultural context and engage in short interactions.
They are also familiar with very basic grammatical features, like the German articles, possessive pronouns and the German cases.

The “Beginner 2 level” for children is a course that reviews and continues the material children have already covered during the level Beginner 1 of German and goes further. In this course, children will acquire basic vocabulary to talk about leisure activities and will be able to describe their daily routine at school and at home; they will learn how to tell the time, to describe people and talk about their own town and district and how to locate things in space. At the end of the course, children will be able to answer simple questions about themselves and have basic interactions. They practice the listening and speaking skills using various activities, games and relevant materials in order to start understanding the language in its cultural context and engage in short interactions.

The “Beginner 2 level”for children is a course that reviews and continues the materials children have already covered during the level Beginner 1 of German and goes further. In this course, children will acquire basic vocabulary to talk about leisure activities and will be able to describe their daily routine at school and at home; they will learn how to tell the time, to describe people, talk about their own town and district and how to locate things in space. At the end of the course, children will be able to answer simple questions about themselves and have basic interactions. The class is conducted in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere appropriate for their age. They practice the listening and speaking skills using various activities and games and relevant materials in order to start understanding the language in its cultural context and engage in short interactions.
The “Beginner 2 level” is already the final level to complete A1 – related to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. After having completed beginner 2 part 2, teenagers have the option to switch to the adult program and join one of the Pre-Intermediate (A2) courses for adults.
Or they can continue with the Teenager program and start the Pre-Intermediate level there.

In this level, students focus on topics like shopping, clothes, and the weather. They learn vocabulary related to clothes, sizes, and shopping phrases. They practice how to ask for prices, try things on, and talk about their preferences. The lessons also cover weather expressions and how to describe the weather in different seasons. Additionally, students learn how to talk about plans and make arrangements with others using simple future expressions. The goal is to improve conversational skills related to shopping, the weather, and making plans.

At the end of the pre-intermediate course, your daughter or son will be able to understand sentences and commonly used expressions associated with topics directly related to her/his direct circumstances (e.g. personal information or information about her/his family, shopping, work, immediate surroundings). She/He can make her/himself understood in simple routine situations, dealing with a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and common topics. She/he can describe her/his background and education, immediate surroundings and other things associated with immediate needs in a simple way.

In these lessons, students learn to talk about their past experiences, holidays, and travel. They focus on the past tense, especially the perfect tense, to describe events that have already happened. Vocabulary related to vacations, destinations, and activities is introduced, and students practice discussing where they’ve been, what they’ve done, and how they felt. They also learn how to express wishes and plans for the future. These lessons help students improve their ability to talk about past experiences, travel, and express future intentions in conversations.

In these lessons, students focus on topics such as health, emergencies, and sports. They learn vocabulary related to illnesses, symptoms, medical advice, and how to express what is wrong with them or someone else. The lessons also cover sports and physical activities, teaching vocabulary for different sports and how to talk about preferences and experiences. Additionally, students practice using modal verbs like müssen (must) and sollen (should) to give advice or express obligations. The focus is on improving communication skills related to health, sports, and giving/receiving advice in everyday situations.

After having completed pre-intermediate part 2, teenagers can continue with Intermediate (B1) courses for teenagers or have the option to switch to the adults program and join one of the Intermediate (B1) courses for adults.
Prerequisites: This course is for students, who have successfully completed the Beginner level (Beste Freunde A1.1 or A1.2) at TII Language Center, any Goethe Institut or equivalent.
Textbook: no textbooks required. Material will be provided by the teacher.

The German language is a challenge both for non-native speakers who are receiving their education at a German speaking school as well as for German native speakers who chose to be educated in another language.
This course aims to strengthen the student’s language skills, especially reading comprehension and writing skills (with a focus on expressing thoughts and ideas and creating stories).
Using stories, songs and animation we will learn to produce texts and stories ourselves both verbally and in written form. We will revise the basic rules both of grammar as well as how a story needs to be set up to be able to tell a story both verbally as well as in written form. Broadening our vocabulary will be another focus of this course using various exercises and activities.
Prerequisites: Students year 3 & 4 (German or American system) or Year 4-5 (British system)
Course materials: No textbooks are used in this course. The teacher will use materials and images suitable for this age group and provide the children in each lesson. Students are requested to bring a notebook, a folder, pencils and crayons. Students will receive appropriate rest times during the lesson.

Textbook: Planetino 1, Kursbuch und Arbeitsbuch
In Planetino 2, students build on what they’ve learned and focus on more complex vocabulary and grammar. Key topics include:
They learn adjectives to describe appearances, personalities, and characteristics, vocabulary related to food, ordering in a restaurant, and talking about likes and dislikes. Students learn about different places in a city (e.g., park, store, cinema) and how to ask for directions.
They learn vocabulary for various animals and how to describe them.
The student will talk about past events using the basic past tense.
Talking about different types of trips, places, and holiday activities is also part of Planetino 2.
